The IoL and its subsidiaries value your privacy and
aim to safeguard any personal information disclosed
to maintain our integrity and public confidence in us.

Members’ (all membership categories) personal
data will allow the IoL to provide relevant updates
and upgrades for the benefits available according to
membership status.

third-party information, selected industry updates and
other promotional offers. You are entitled to request
to be excluded from such communications by
contacting the IoL Membership Department at any

The IoL is not responsible for the content or

4. Freedom of Information
In accordance with the Freedom
of Information Act 2000, any individual is entitled
to make a request for information held about him/her
by the IoL and have that communicated.
We aim to respond to all requests for information within
the statutory deadline of twenty (20) working days.
In some cases we may be unable to make a full disclosure;
eg. when information has been obtained by another person/authority.

5. Publication of Personal
Information
Personal information will only be published with your
permission. Certain services we provide, such as the
IoL
Find-a-Linguist Database (F-a-L) and Examination
Prizes, include members’ information.
Members can request to be included or removed from
the F-a-L or have their details amended at any time
by contacting
the Membership Department.
Although no individual examination results are published
on this website, general statistics can be found in
the Moderator’s report of each examination on
this website.
6. Accessibility
Although we aim to provide this site and other online
resources on a 24 hour basis, the IoL is not liable
for periods during which the site and other online services
are unavailable. This may result in cases of technical
issues, maintenance purposes or other, beyond the control
of the IoL.
This site presents various documents in PDF format.

The IoL is committed to providing accessible services
for people with disabilities. We will endeavour to adapt
all material featuring on our website in order to comply
with the W3C

7. Website Policy
The IoL website might make use of questionnaires, surveys,
polls, etc. to collect information from time to time.
This will always be voluntary and information collected
will be used to implement and personalise our online
services.
We may ask you for your email address to provide you
with updated information, through various mediums such
as newsletters. You can edit or remove your email details
and/or unsubscribe from IoL newsletters at your discretion.
Information collected through the aforementioned could
be used in the following ways:
- To enhance the IoL services and develop policy.
- To form part of anonymous statistics and passed
to third parties for market research in order to address
the current market trends and issues.
The IoL does not collect any financial information
on this website.
We regularly compile statistics from visitors’ usage of this website. Any information collected through
your visit will remain anonymous. Statistics will not
encompass domain or IP locations while cookies and sessions
will only be used for the duration of your visit to
enhance usability.
