IoLET Qualifications

Become a qualified translator, interpreter or other linguist with one of the following examinations:

• Certificate in Bilingual Skills (CBS)

  A foundation level award at A’ level standard for those needing to demonstrate competence in the public or voluntary sectors and a useful stepping stone to the DPSI.

  
  
• Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)

  A first degree level interpreting qualification for those working with UK community languages and English in a Public Service context.

  
  
• Diploma in Translation (DipTrans)

  A postgraduate level qualification of a professional standard.

  
  
• International Diploma in Bilingual Communication (IDBC)

  First degree language level qualification in Chinese and English which demonstrates ability to a professional standard.
  

• Final Diploma in English and Chinese (FDEC)
  Revised; to be discontinued as of Summer 2008 and planned to be replaced by IDBC (see above).
