Public Service Interpreting (Teaching on Generic Module and/or Advanced Module)

Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning

 
The Centre for Lifelong Learning is in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) in the delivery of the Community Interpreters Training Project for Wales (CITW). The aim of the project is to offer bilingual individuals in South Wales the opportunity to receive training locally to enable them to obtain the knowledge, skills and experience to operate as effective community interpreters. 
 
The Centre is looking for individuals to design, prepare, and deliver teaching, (including preparing and supervising different modes of assessment) on either the Centre’s Generic Module or Advanced Module in Public Service Interpreting, or both. You will have a first degree and a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (or equivalent experience). Proven ability to use initiative and creativity to resolve problems and identify and assess practical options, with guidance where appropriate is essential as is proven ability to plan and prioritise own daily work and forward plan for some teaching with guidance as appropriate.
 
This post is fixed-term until 31 July 2011.
 
Hours: Generic Module - 4 hours contact time per week for 28 weeks plus 112 hours preparation/admin/marking plus additional paid holiday hours.
 
Advanced Module - 4 hours contact time per week for 28 weeks plus 112 hours preparation/admin/marking plus additional paid holiday hours. 
 
Salary: £29853 - £35646 per annum, pro-rata for hours worked (Grade 6).
